Tell me more about this. Do you rent a couple lanes and every takes turns or what?

I think we can do 3 people to a lane. But I'll leave that to the folks that show up, how they wanna do that. 2 is good; 3 might be a little crowded. The object is just to have a good time, meet each other, shoot, make excuses, lie, shoot some more, then go eat some chow.

That's usually the way it goes. Depending on the size of the crowd, four or five lanes are rented, and people take turns shooting. A lot of the shooting involves people shooting other people's guns, so don't be afraid to ask and share if you want to.
I'm going to shoot my guns and look at some of the others. I hope I get to shoot a few rounds with the cool ones. Everyone is invited to shoot any of my guns.

It ought to be a good time. I will call Mike tomorrow and see if we can get a discount on the lanes.

Make sure to tell him that you're the NCOICONT (NCO in charge of name tags) and maybe that will help.

Do these events have a RSO independent of the range staff? Some forums have some inexperienced to firearms, some just complete yahoos and of course some really experienced firearms enthusiasts.

I have a gun range with 2 benches, berms at 100 yard intervals to 400 yards and a large berm for handguns and short range work. It is primarily for family, friends and employees, but a local FFA group shoots trap out here. I require the FFA group to always have the 4H certified range safety officer out there anytime they come to shoot.

I feel that with a large group of people that firearm safety training is unknown having a couple qualified range safety officers designated to only that would reduce chances of any accident.

Big Boys Range has a RSO in place in each bay. There are 12 lanes in each bay. Will they designate an RSO to just our little group? No, I doubt it. As we know, range safety is everyone's business though. I'm confident that we will be okay. I'm no less comfortable shooting with OSA members than complete strangers, often with kids, sharing a bay with me. I guess it depends on your outlook. Hope you will come join us.

Not a lot of newbs come to these things. Most of the people I've encountered at an E-N-S are very savvy when it comes to gun safety. We can and we do self-police at these events. You see someone handling a gun in an unsafe manner, mention it to them.

I know BBG have RSO. Just recently they also had an incident. Fact of the matter is, some haven't been taught correctly or sufficiently.

Remember how that incident was discussed here? I wouldn't want to be part of the group that is talked about because of an incident.

Yep. And don't forget; we'll have Surjimmy, AKA "The Enforcer" watching everybody like a hawk. No, seriously. MM is correct. But so are you. Range safety is first; we are going to do this to have a good time; we sure don't want to end up with somebody going to the ER or worse.
