I appreciate a fine leather holster; specifically, an OWB rig designed for concealment. Oh I admit to often just using a simple kydex IWB rig for quick trips, like the RM Lowrider by RM Holsters, but for all day wear, I am growing more and more fond of a nice Leather OWB rig. There's a bunch of quality holster makers out there, but one I am really impressed with is the Kramer Belt Scabbard in Horsehide. Talk about tough; this thing is tougher than a two-dollar steak! I mean, it's thin, dense, strong horse-leather that pulls the butt of a full size gun in nice and tight. The holster is double stitched, and the belt slots are wet molded; twisted inwards kind of to help pull that gun in tight. I also want full muzzle coverage too; I cannot imagine the pain if my front sight were to rip the leather in my wife's new car seats. One thing, horse does not lend itself to the exquisitely finely detailed hand boning you will see in a top quality Mitch Rosen, TT Gunleather, or Milt Sparks Holster made of top quality cowhide. I certainly do not mean to say cowhide is any less suitable for a holster. I doubt most of us will wear either out in a lifetime anyway. I also prefer a slight forward cant, maybe 15-20 degrees, and a sweatshield on my OWB rigs. The Kramer in horse runs like $126. Another good looking design I see is UBG Holster's fairly new RTBA holster, a medium ride pancake rig. That looks to be a decent holster, and well priced too at $75. You don't get the double stitching with the RTBA holster, or horsehide, but for general use, I bet it's just fine. So what's your favorite OWB Concealment holster for full size or compact sized guns, Let's say...Glock 19 size or 1911 Gov't or Commander sized pistols? Since we all like pics, I'll post a pic of my Ruger SR1911 LW Cmd in a Kramer Belt Scabbard and a stock pic off the UBG website of the RTBA Holster for you to look at.
