New ATF Form 4473

I visited my local gun shop Saturday and found out that the BATFE has issued a new 4473 form. They have been out for about a month now---here is a article that you might want to give a look.

I had to use it on Thursday when i bought a rifle from academy. I probably would have messed it up because I was used to filling everything out the old way. Glad the guy explained it to me before I did it.

There's another nit-pickin' little difference.

For years I've wrote "NMN" for no middle name behind my middle initial as I don't have a middle name,,,
Now I was informed I must write "IO" for initial only.

How do I know this you might ask?

On Saturday the 4th of February I picked up a Henry Mini-Bolt at the OK City Cabela's,,,
That following Monday I got a call saying I had to come back in with the rifle and re-do the paperwork.

It's a 75 mile drive one way so I wasn't very happy about it,,,
I was at least able to persuade them to give me a $50.00 gift certificate for my time and trouble.

Ya hafta love bureaucracies.

Sounds like the "NMN"/"IO" snafu should be the BATFEs responsibility. Surely when the gun shop called in the 4473 info in, the store rep had to tell the BATFE agent the "NMN"/"IO" info you provided. The BATFE agent should have caught the error right then and there with no follow-up re-dos needed. Glad you got the $50 Cabela's gift certificate because of the BATFE BBS(Bureaucratic Bravo Sierra).

I could be wrong, but isn't the NICS system ran by the FBI and not BATFE? Nit pickin' maybe...but I think that's a fact.

Well, for what's it's worth, it seems to me that the BATFE should be running it...or does it really matter?
