After trying several different semi-auto handguns in an effort to move up the CCW scale a bit, my wife finally found one that she liked and so she bought this pistol to be her carry gun in the latter part of last year. She has been to the range exactly once since that day. For some odd reason, she doesn't see the thrill and joy in recoil, the concentration required to stack them boolets on top of each other, or the strange attraction many of us have to the smell of Hoppes #9 when cleaning our guns afterwards. She walked in and handed it to me the other day and said she doesn't want a semi auto anymore, so it's back to a revolver for her. But hey, that's another story. This baby Kimber is a cute little thing, it looks like a miniature 1911, on the outside anyway, not so much *innardly.

The Kimber Micro Carry Series is chambered in .380, with a Micro 9mm now available as well, although the 9 is a little bigger specifications-wise than the .380 of course. This particular one is called the "Advocate Model", it comes with a groovy set of VZ G-10 grips and Kimber Factory Night Sites, as well as an extended 7-round mag so you can have 7+1 of hot little .380 boolets at your disposal. I like the extended mag better too in terms of ergonomics; it does give one a proper pinky placement. The baby Kimber is a real close cousin to the Sig P238 and the Colt Mustang pistolas. I personally dig the Kimber's looks best of all though. Wifey put maybe 100 rounds total through it; and I took it to the range once late last year and put a few more (hundred) down range. And then again the other day after she gave it to me and said, "Here. I don't want to carry this anymore, the safety is too hard on my fingernails. And it's dirty". All told, the gun now sports a solid 700-round count on the round-count-o-meter with absolutely zero (0) failures or hiccups. Pretty impressive if you ask me, and I have been called The Hater of Mouse Guns. Back up a few years, and I had a Ruger LCP that I couldn't get through a dang single mag without a hang up of some sort. Plus, I couldn't hit the floor with the damned thing unless I dropped it. Not so with the Kimber; the little mousey gun is very accurate; very accurate indeed! Maybe it is the SA trigger, the gun's 1911'ish style, the locked breech....I dunno, it just plain shoots boolets in a straight line really good.

So I had to decide if I was gonna keep it, sell it, or trade it off...my normal EDC is a well worn and much trusted Glock 43. It is significantly bigger than the Kimber but it doesn't matter IWB. The Kimber excels in the pocket, if one doesn't mind pocket carrying a SA gun that is. I'm okay with it; you might not be and that's cool too. I carried it around over the last few days and still, no firm decision...but I am leaning towards just keeping it. It shoots very nice, is tiny as all get-out, and sure is a sharp looking gun IMO. The only thing that really bugs me is that darn .380 ammo is expensive, compared to regular 9mm.

So here's a few pics to look at while I decide what to do with it. The first couple are with the stock VZ Grips, the next ones are with a set of black duragrips I got for it. Like I said; I'm leaning towards keeping it...it is fun as hell to shoot, it serves a purpose for me, and I like the way she looks.

*(Innardly: A new word I invented for use by us peeps here on OSA. It means what makes up the innards and what them dang innards look like).

You have been batting this around ever since you bought this for Mary, keep it a while as your EDC and give it a fair chance. Then decide if you want to sale it or not. BTW, bring it with you Monday.

But it won't actually be for EDC, Just occasional daily carry (OCD). I had already planned to bring it with me on Monday too. It sure is easy to carry in the pocket Bro. Real easy. And even sad sack, old, broken down arthritis-ridden guys, such as yourself, will be able to handle the recoil of this dandy little pistol.

It doesn't eat much, don't talk back and is there when you need her, keep it. Always have a use for a good trade/sell/barter piece down the line if so decided. Purty little thing by the way, be a shame to let her go.

I like it. I'm surprised you haven't started reloading. Those expensive calibers become cheap. My .338 Lapua cost over $100 per 20 rounds if bought out of a store. I can load 20 rounds at home for less than $30 once I have the brass. Don't shoot it much. Hurts.

I'd love to start reloading; but I don't have the space I need right now. And as far as this "hurts" thing goes... I know not what this means. Pain is good.

Okay, after thinking about this some more, and based on what you guys are saying, I'm thinking this one is going to be a keeper. I don't need the Micro 9 cause...Glock 43. I need a gun I can carry comfortably in me pocket so...Kimber Micro 380. Final decision on Monday after me and my brother from another mother go shoot it some more.

You clean your guns? Like Right after? You dont just throw a bunch of Remoil on and call it good?

JKJK I like Hoppes but man the smell does get to me after a while. Its nice at first but slowly causes a headache...
