NRA is backing the bump fire ban as a bone to the lib's, but that won't be enough. Before the NRA said they would consider action on the stock, the libs were using it to beat us (gun owners) to death with thinking NRA would NEVER go for any concession. Now they've flew past that to larger legislation on gun control.
Yep, If we're not screwed we're getting greased up for it.

Clench your sphincter and resist. If we don't bend over, we win.

I've seen that statement from the NRA and it really angers me. They wrapped their likely capitulation toward regulation of bumpfire stocks between an opening statement against gun control and a closing statement about their support for national reciprocity. It's devious, underhanded, and copies a tactic the left utilizes to mislead and cover up their true intentions. It's a confection concocted of a sour piece of fruit wrapped in sweet milk chocolate. You bite into it and you get a bitter surprise. This is not what I pay the NRA for.

How about you step up/ man up, and provide that service if you disagree with the NRA funding it.

In all fairness, the NRA isn't the only game in town. Check out the youth programs put on by the NSSF.

With enough pressure, the NRA will come around. They respond to lost funding and reductions in membership.

I agree with a lot of what is said here. From what I understand the NRA offered their support for the ban of bump fires as a trade for national reciprocity. If thats the case then I bet the NRA knows that that will never happen. That way they can use this as a "see we tried to compromise and have a give and take relationship but they wont play". Just my guess and opinion which means nothing.

It is high time that we stop all the tit-for-tat crap and go back to policing our own shooting sports. The attitude that 'I will give NOTHING up', regardless how inconsequential that 'loss' is, does nothing except make us appear just as fanatical as those other, ah . . .'People' are, and also gives 'Them' an incentive to push their agenda onto those that are undecided about firearms.

The notion that 'if we give and inch they will want a mile, therefore it is ALWAYS better to never give that inch' (as if by not giving into them 'They' will just give up and quit), is a fallacy. 'They' will always want a mile whether we give an inch or not, so instead I think that we should focus more on ensuring that 'They' have nothing that 'They' can use against us.

Though 'Bumpsticks' or 'binary triggers' are coveted by a tiny, tiny fraction of those in the shooting community, by NEVER drawing a line on what should or should not be allowed to the general shooter, those other 'People' now have another thing to use against us in their never ending quest to rid the planet of firearms.

I have been thinking a lot about this very subject all week and while I want to agree with you I have a real problem with telling a law abiding citizen you cant have this because an outlaw might use it for evil. I see no benefit to a bump fire other than wasting bullets and the cool factor for some, but to tell these folks you are paying the price for a seriously small minority of outlaws is WRONG on so many levels.
And then you add in the fact that taking these away from the good guys , will not stop the outlaws from having these items if they so choose.
Heck we have all sorts of laws on the books that are not being adhered to by the bad guys, a lock on a door only keeps law abiding people out, a no bump fire law only keeps law abiding people from owning them!!!!
Why should someone have to give up anything that is used according to the law?

The fallacy is that any amount of gun control is going to stop mass killings, England and France both have serious antigun laws on the books so the outlaws used a truck and mowed 87 people down in one instance. I was in Germany when bombings were killing people right and left all over Europe......... Law abiding people do not engage in this behavior in any form......

And you can still buy a truck in Germany, England, and France.
You are seeing the way most of us see things. Of the thousands of bumpfire stocks out there today, only one has been used by an evil person.
Yet the left focuses on the gun or its accessory. They don't focus on the evil in a human being that caused that.
I think it was Nancy Pelosi said yesterday that when she heard some of the other legislators saying giving the gun grabbers the bump stocks, it would lead to a slippery slope of further regulations.
Pelosi's response was she hoped it did lead to a slippery slope as that is the first step to their agenda. (paraphrased, not quoted)
