Hotel and motel parking lots are prime spots for thievery. Sad story, but they don't say whether they were insured or not. With more than 100,000 in guns, you had better have a rider on your homeowners insurance, or a separate policy. If they didn't have insurance, well, that tells you something about them.

I would think collectible firearms like that would be hard to sell, especially illegally.
Depends upon what you mean by "illegally." If you mean trying to sell to somebody who recognizes their value (like stolen artwork), yeah, that'd be tough.

Selling to Joe Crackhead would be trivial. You wouldn't get full market value, but then, it could be the thieves don't realize what they have, either.

Well I heard it reported that they said it would take two years for them to recover. Sounds like they are uninsured to me...

That Johnson, depending on condition, could be worth mega bucks. But not anywhere near six figures.

The news Monday night noted WWI US & German sniper rifles in the mix, doesn't seem like local petty thieves would have much use for that kind of collectable weaponry.
Kinda wonder if the robbery was someone who knew what was in the trailer.
Feel for the couple but agree really dumb leaving a trailer of firearms in a motel lot in that area of Tulsa.
