Tnoutdoors has a bunch of pretty good testing videos on youtube. Wish he was till doing them.

Yeah, I always loved his videos!

From TNOUTDOORS9:

"AUGUST 14, 2015: As of this date I am no longer uploading videos to the channel. I tried in 2014 to walk away from being a content creator but the urge to return was just too strong. I'm at a point now with life and career (BTW, health is great) that trying to do this on even a limited basis is too time consuming for what I can allocate.
I plan to check private messages two or three times a week. As for comments, unless it is in the batch of those most recently posted that can be viewed when I login, I most likely won't see it. If you absolutely need a response to a question, please send a private message.
I truly appreciate the outpouring of support these past six years for my effort in showcasing the shooting sports. I will most definitely be out there buying products in support of the firearms industry, researching, learning, and applying that knowledge to all things shooting-related.
Thank you
Thomas

I carry Win Ranger 127gr +p+. 1325fps. Not an outrageous amount of difference. 125fps. Ho hum.
About a 20% difference in energy: 1450^2 / 1325^2. Momentum difference of about 9%: 1450/1325. I'm ignoring the 2gr difference in bullet weight as negligible.

For entertainment's sake, the Buffalo Bore load at 1700 fps has 65% more energy and 28% more momentum.

Not to mention 15 round capacity and rapid follow-up shots. Vs a 6 or 5 shooter.

What gun are you getting that velocity out of? I ask because I only get 1300 out of my 7" AR pistol that I built specifically for this load. I was hoping for at least 1350 or getting really lucky and getting 1400. No dice. It actually runs around 1250 out of all my other 9's (M&Ps 5" and FS).

I don't remember specifically chronoing that load. I may have gone off the advertised velocity. I have definitely chronoed Underwood ammo +p+ and was pleased with getting at least the advertised velocity.

Not starting an argument or anything...honest question. If some of the previous rounds were ‘better’ and some speciality rounds are ‘better’, then why take the 40s away from leo and why have a fair amount of fbi testing data indicating the 9mm does the requested job? Why even one of the most recent handgun submissions redesign resulted in 9mm?
I love my 45 but I’ll pick up the 9 to carry everytime purely because of the glock30 being a bit wider and noticably heavier.

Who said anyone was taking the .40 away? The reason for the switch IMHO is the 9 does everything needed...extra round capacity and from a departments view cheaper and easier to find.
