6.5 Creedmore

The 6.5 Creedmore is still creating a lot of fuss in the forums and gun magazines.

It takes a lot to impress this ragged old soul, but I must admit to leaning towards trying one out.

Anyone have one and have taken it through its paces?

Would love to hear your first hand thoughts.....

6.5CM is a decent little short action for beginners for 2 reasons
1.) Flat Trajectory, High BC
2.) Availability of match grade ammo on shelf

Im so glad to see someone else say this. The CM is great for punching paper and hitting a target way on out there but if you want that bullet to have an effect at 1000 yards you better shoot something a little more serious.

I agree with the assessment that you need more gun for effective long range hunting of deer and larger game. I have a custom Surgeon in 6.5 Creedmoor. I can routinely make headshots at 800 yards even with wind. It’s performance at distance is quite astounding compared to a 308. I wouldn’t try to shoot a deer over about 700 yards with it, even though I know I can make the shot. Just not enough power. For 1000 yards, I’ll take my 300 Win mag. Beyond that and it’s time for my cheytac.

My son used my ruger with a can in it to take his deer. He was surprised by how little recoil it had. The can helped but it has very little recoil without it. Iv carried a different rifle the last 4 or 5 deer seasons. The creedmoor is here to stay.

Yes and yes. Because of where we were and the distance to the deer, his 06 was kinda overkill. I handed it to him at the last second. He was impressed to say the least. He still talks about the lack of recoil.
