Anybody know why my new AAC can screws down so far it jams against end of the slide on my Kimber Gold Match .45. Ed Brown barrel measures 5.522", but if I lock the slide back and turn the can another third of a thread until it stops, then release the slide and it strikes the can and fails to go into battery. Bought the short 1911 piston from AAC and found it was the exact one Chris supplied me with from Sportsworld. Is the Ed Brown barrel too short? Do I need a 5.75" threaded barrel?

Someone cut the threads too deep/far on one or the other?
I suspect that may be true. Talked to tech guy at Brownells who didn't know for sure what was wrong. He told me to ask AAC. I did that and they sold me the same piston I came home with from Sportsworld. Brownells also advised me to ask Ed Brown. tried to google him and got some gun parts place that couldn't seem to help me.

Finally got thru to Ed Brown customer service. E-mailed back that they couldn't tell what was wrong from my description, advised me to ship them the barrel, piston or whole pistol. Not liking that option.

Got my answer from a local gunsmith here in Tulsa. At first glance he told me the barrel's too short for suppressors. It's for compensators. 5.522" long won't work. Have ordered a Storm Lake 5.75" threaded barrel. A little knowledge can be an error producing thing. Not the first time I've wasted my time and money, and outsmarted myself. My own fault Ed Brown got over on me.
