Brass Catcher

Looking into a brass catcher so I dont have to police my brass so much in the Pdog field when I shoot the AR.
Anything to look for or avoid?
I think I like pic rail attached over velcro straps...any experience with either?

I have one velcro attached. If I were to do it over, I would definitely go the pic rail attachment. The velcro works, but is kind of a pain to get and keep adjusted. It works pretty well, but I think the pic rail would be much more serviceable and easier to use. Let us know!

Thats good to know and about what I was figuring. I wonder how well the pic rail ones adjust and fit under a scope.

I don't know, but it's got to better than the velcro! I am constantly checking and re-positioning the velcro bag. Still, there is always at least one stick of brass that escapes from a 30-round mag! (at least they don't go far)

I have the same type of Caldwell pic rail brass catcher as shown in the link and have found that it works really well, having tried it on 5.56 AR, 9mm AR, and a Scorpion Evo3. I haven't tried mounting one under a scope, but I just took a rough measurement and it looks like it would work if you have a bit over 1/2" of clearance between the top of the pic rail and the bottom of the scope. I could not fit one under a Vortex Cantilever rail, there just wasn't quite enough space.

I ended up buying extra pic rail attachments and left them permanently attached, simply moving the net part to whichever rifle I'm shooting at the time.

The net is supported by a wire frame, which has a slot (for lack of a better term) that mates with the rail attachment. The slot can be moved fore and aft to position the catcher over the ejection port. The only problem I've had with the overall system is that I have had trouble loosening and re-tightening the slot because it is a little difficult to access the set screws.

I have both the Ar mounted and the bench mounted brass catchers, and the bench model works better. The gun-type the catcher has to be just right for the brass to go in every time; the bench type is more forgiving as it will pick up brass end up as high flyer, ahead of you or near you
