I was talking to a friend the other day that casts and shoots a lot of lead bullets. And I mean a lot. He brought up the fact that some lead bullets tend to grow after they leave the muzzle due to centrifugal force of spinning. I dont shoot lead through rifles yet so I havent ever given it any thought. He was concerned about having a strike if the bullet swelled too much. What do you guys think?

I'm watching this thread. I've shot 45 ACP lead bullets through a suppressor and had no problems.

Because lead can seperate and fragment as it leaves the barrel.
Have you ever seen a .22 can after a bunch of rounds? There are chunks of lead that will drop out as you take it apart.

You may shoot thousands of rounds of lead through your new suppressor without a single problem...... you may not.
Are you willing to risk it on something that took you 9 months to get and an extra $200 BS tax?
I'm not.

Ive shot countless thousands of 22 LR through my 556 can and have never had any lead inside the can. Plenty of carbon chunks but never any lead. I take mine apart pretty regularly and clean it. Maybe since its usually through a 4" pistol is why. I dont know.

Im not really worried about shooting lead through the can I just ordered since its good up to 338. It was just a conversation I had with a friend and was wondering about the validity of lead swelling.

It's your can, so do as you please.
I just wouldn't take the risk myself for a few bucks difference in the type of ammo I shoot.

Let's say worst case happens and the suppressor takes damage including the outer tube which holds the serial number.
Well, if that serial number part is damaged, they can't just slap a new one on and send it back. They have to put on a new serial numbered tube and then you have to do the entire form 4 process all over again and wait another 6-9 months plus another $200 tax stamp to get a repaired suppressor back.
