So I have decided to pick up a new designated bedside gun, sometime carry gun. I am looking at a P320 RX Full size or a P320 RX Compact. These are the ones that come equiped with a sig romeo 1 red dot sight. My intent, If I went with the full size would be to put a compact grip on it, making the overall height shorter, and not having to worry about the butt of the gun printing as bad. My question is, am I forgetting anything as far as carry pistols go? Other than weight, it should not matter too much from full size slide to compact slide for carry purposes. Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone doing something silimar?

I've found with IWB a longer slide (to the extent I've tested) makes it more stable - as it provides more leverage keeping the butt end from leaning away from you.

I carry my G19 in a G17 IWB holster.

I found that a good belt alleviates that to a great degree. A wimpy/flexy belt allows the grip to lean out, thus making the muzzle press in on the hip. This is very uncomfortable after time passes.

Carried a full size 1911 IWB for many years and still carry my P220 IWB sometimes. It's primarily a house and field gun but sometimes just need carrying. I don't find that uncomfortable.

I agree with both of these. In addition, a lower riding holster, either IWB or OWB, also tends to help keep a butt-heavy pistol tucked into your side better. For OWB, there is no better option for deep concealment than a low riding pancake holster on a good stiff belt. It will conceal much better than an avenger style all day every day. Nature of the beast, if you will.

It's hurts your ass driving or sitting in a chair with longer slides. I prefer shorter slides with longer grips.

Valid point. So the G19X makes sense for in car carry.

However, at least the way I carry, sitting makes the butt protrude even worse. So for a desk job, if I am trying to conceal, longer grip compounds the problem.
