Their sign says no conceal carry weapons by city ordinance...
Are they referring to the business owners right to prohibit or something else I'm not aware of?

They're bluffing is what they're doing. Or they don't know the law. Hospitals do this all the time. One I went to had signs all over saying they would prosecute to the full extent of the law, etc. Such BS. Law doesn't prohibit hospitals at all.

<edit> Sad thing is, I know a number of working law enforcement officers who don't know this and can't be told otherwise... because they "know the law". Apparently without reading it. lol

Yup, prosecute to the full extent, misdemeanor trespassing, $75. And I totally understand the officer thing. Had one patrol officer tell me that its illegal to have a loaded handgun in your car because the SDA law doesn't apply to your vehicle, just when you are walking around in a public place that you have a right to be....

The Urgent Care place by my house doesn't have a sign -- I don't think. I was in there 3 times the first couple of weeks they were open and I don't remember seeing one. But then I was more focused on my urgent medical needs than I was what was painted on the door.

And as far as the stuff with the cops goes, it must be nice to never be wrong. :rolleyes2

What IS the signage requirement here in OK?
In TX it was the 30.06 and/or 51% sign.

No specific signage. You can put up a sign, which means nothing.

If noted carrying in a place they don't want you doing so, they can ask you to leave. If you refuse and they summon an officer, you can be cited for trespassing.

Only if they ask you to leave and you refuse, if I remember the statute correctly. They can't just note you carrying and quietly call a police officer and have you ticketed.

You are correct, ticket would only be issued if you refused to leave. They could call and say there is a man with a gun, but I'm pretty sure they would get in as much or more trouble pulling that stunt as the person trespassing. I'm also pretty sure most cops wouldn't ticket you if you did tell them you would leave anyways. Pretty much most cops want us to have guns, the ones that don't are usually politically appointed ranking officials.

Yep; cops quite often don't know what they're talking about. One time many moons ago, I was living in the Seattle area and was stopped by a State Trooper due to expired tags. He saw my CCW and asked me if I had any weapons in the car. I did and I told him where. He made a big show of unsnapping the safety strap on his service revolver and told me to use my thumb and fore finger ONLY to take it out and give it to him and after unloading it, told me I couldn't carry it loaded.

My response was that I could carry loaded, that the CCW license said so. He was skeptical and told me again "You can't carry it loaded!"

"Yes, I can; it won't do me much good if it isn't."

"Let me check on THAT." After he checked everything out he gave the gun magazine and the round that had been chambered back me and it seemed that I could after all. Cops hate to be wrong.

The really sad thing is that their mistake of law is still valid grounds to arrest you, as upheld by SCOTUS.

Ignorance of the law is no defense, unless you're a cop...then it's standard procedure.
