The other guy that works here saw one turkey a couple weeks ago. That's the first turkey on this place in a longgg time. They've tried getting Turkeys established here but they won't stick for whatever reason. Quail population has been headed downhill for several years too. Ranch owner has got it in his mind that the armadillos are to blame for lack of quail. He said there didn't used to be any armadillos. I killed 11 and missed 4 in about an hour a couple evenings ago.

ODW transplanted turkey on an area around our places years ago. The varmints picked them off one at a time until there were none left.
We have trapped that area intensely for several years, and the turkey are back.
I'm hit or miss on them being there. Great for turkey season, but it sucks during deer season. They know the minute the feeder kicks on, and clean it up in a few minutes.
I only feed in the winter months, so don't know what they do or where they go in the summer.

It's our spring beak for the kid so he is in OK with the grandparents hunting turkey. Got this today. He went out with his grandfather and did everything himself including calling in a couple Toms while grandpa sat and watched. My son has been practicing his calls and does pretty decent. He was shocked when he started to call and actually called in some birds. He wasn't ready with the shotgun down and head covering off. 22# 10.5" beard and 1.25" spurs. So happy for him.
