Not that I care, I don't give a rip about the NFL, but it's possible they trade him for more than one good player in other positions that they need. It would be a good outcome for him. Hopefully he has a great contract because going to Cleveland would be like a prison sentence to me. No way in hell I'd live there (or near there) unless I had a plan to get out.

Plan A: Suck it up; live there a few years, get the tar beat out of you on regular basis, but retire before age 30 to wherever you like and take it easy.

Well, the Heisman and now the#1 overall will be the pinnacle of his football career. It's all down hill from here for Mayfield. Like others said, at least he will be set for life with cash.

That is not true for the majority of NFL players. Most of em run through that money like a fat kid in an ice cream shop.
That's on them. He certainly has the opportunity to be set for life, anyway.

Just out of curiosity, how do salary negotiations work in conjunction with the draft? What if the No. 1 draft pick doesn't like the offer on the table?

I was wondering about that too.

Edit: I know that Brian Bosworth had a great contract. He got paid even if injured. Don't know how it affects the compensation, but I think it may get you better T&Cs.

This is the reason the toilet is the only Super Bowl the Browns will be making. Not because Baker, who is a bit risky but has the biggest upside of any of the QBs.

They FAILED at the number 4 pick. They drafted a good CB but passed on Chubb, who looks to be an elite pass rusher, best defender by far. They could have picked up an elite OL to protect BM. Hell they could have taken Barkley (Game Changer) at 1 then had either BM or Darnald at 4. Any of those would be better.
