A big reason I don’t compete anymore is because I didn’t think anyone was better than me , and that I believed I could beat anyone. True or false, it doesn’t even matter. What mattered was I was shooting for the wrong reasons, to win.
And that’s why I’m sour on all of it. All that wasted time while I could have had fun, met new people, have new friends.

I always shot to compete against myself not to win. Plus it was good to get out and shoot. Shot a match in Phoenix met a couple nice guys one of which shoots the worlds steel challenge. Some people out there were just rejects IMHO, yelling and cussing among other things. Being around that constantly would sour me faster than anything else. I will likely never compete beyond a local stage which is perfectly fine. I have had life happen lately and have not gone to shoot a competition in a while now and with my shoulder acting up again who knows when I will get another chance.

Rimfire matches shouldn't hurt the shoulder unless the position of the shoulder is the issue. Sucks to be hurting. Hope it gets better.

You and Grumpy ... I'm like Nightshade. I was shooting against myself every time I went out. If I bettered my score against ME each time I shot I felt like it was a good match. You guys all taught me so much. It was an honor and a privilege to shoot with you fellas. Not to mention a ****ing HOOT! :rotflmao:

AC tear, they cleaned it up but was told "there is barely anything left connected" after they took the piece of bone off the end and cleaned that up. Walked around for almost 20 years with the bone broke and chewing the shoulder up. It was better for about 12 to 18 months and then I pulled my tool bag out of the back of my truck when I was PO'd about something and jerked it and it has acted up worse and worse ever since. Some days it is bearable but that generally does not coincide with a match day otherwise I would shoot a rimfire match.

But suffice to say most days it feels like my arm is trying to rip itself off my body so basically anything that has me vertical with my arm unsupported sucks again and it has steadily been getting worse. The cortisone injection wasn't worth it either, lasted about a week if that but was better than the first time of lasting as long as it took for the lidocane to wear off.

I shoot for the fun of the competition and really don't get disappointed if I do bad on a stage. Hell, I'm shooting open now with a Stock M&P .40 sporting a Trijicon dot on it against full blown race guns. Talk about a disadvantage! I'll never win, nor get close to winning open division, but I really don't care.
Just bought a Taccom PCC upper in 9mm so it's off to PCC division down the road.
