Rustedbeef, Keep the money liquid. Gold and silver is not liquid.
What if the house of your dreams came up at a great price 2 months from now
and you had to sell your just purchased G & S ? You would take a bath and lose probably
twenty percent or more on a quick liquidation.
While a CD doesn't pay much, it is liquid.
Good point, but I'm not crazy enough to dump all my savings into silver and gold for exactly that reason. I'm planning on buying 10oz of silver every month on top of the monthly $500 I set aside into savings. Having two jobs rocks lol.

And there is the continual threat of China calling the note on the US which will further debilitate the dollar. I would suspect tht politicians have had a hand somewhere in this by borrowing money form foreign countries. The fact that one has to borrow huge sums of money indicates weakness in my opinion because there is management problem.

My original question still went unanswered.

Admittedly the dollar being worth zero has never happened, but that’s not what we’re talking about sir. We’re discussing what could happen. It is possible that the US dollar could become worth next to nothing, maybe never exactly zero, but possibly close enough that the difference is moot.

I'd suggest you asking one of the long term no limit politicians like Pelosi or McConnell in Washington but you wouldn't get a straight answer from them. They are part of the problem. many of those friggin' politicians didn't say a word when Obammy was running up the debt and now they are pious as all get out. I reckon they were asleep for eight years.

They were complicit for eight years. Now they are hypocrites.

We have a winner!! Ding ding! What could happen and what history tells us about those chances should really be considered.
A covey of quail "could" fly out my butt, however I'm not preparing for it.
But it "could". :/
