I was in the market for a plate carrier a few years ago but talked myself out of it...just couldn't justify spending that much money on something that would do little more than make me into even more of a tackycool douche canoe.

So anywho I have gotten back into fitness recently and have been considering buying a weighted (workout) vest. While at my buddies house the other night I saw his PC on a table, I tried it on and BINGO 2 birds with one stone. Seems like a great excuse to drop $300 or so I think.

So this carrier will be used mainly to workout in at my house as well as make combat veterans hate me. Can you all make some recommendations on brands that hold up?

I used a Condor vest the last 8 years before I retired. 5 years of that the vest was used quite often as i worked narcotics and during that time we were doing a lot of late night house calls. Held up well for me. Have the AR500 plates. But of course your mileage may vary.
Lots of great plate carriers out there.
I would recommend getting one that has the adjustable padded straps so the weight isn't cutting through to your collar bone :).

I have a condor I bought off this sight for $80 a few Years ago. Never did anything w it. You want it it’s yours for $80
thanks but from what im seeing I would be money ahead buying a plate+carrier combo from somewhere. A buddy recommended Spartan armor and from the looks of it they are the cheapest. carrier+plates for $210 shipped.

steel plate scares me. so i dont die, but i get my face all fragged up and blinded with lead and steel spall
I can agree with that but the primary use of this is fitness work. Im not taking it to war unless SHTF and im not much of a prep fan/believer these days outside of a get home bag I carry around in case of a natural disaster. Also my face is pretty ugly and might benefit from some shrapnel scars.

Theres a guy that sells steel plates on a Facebook functional fitness group. If you don’t need ar500 then you can get it even cheaper
