I usually just use an old beat-up gym bag that I've had for a long time. I call it Jim. Jim D. Bag. Jim is like totally non-descript; not at all threatening or in the least bit tactical. He's totally undercover, the quintessential "gray bag". You'd never guess that he has 4-5 pistols, mags, lots of ammo, small tools, eyes and ears, and a Gerber knife carried IGB (Inside Gym Bag). Jim has a flat, reinforced bottom and plenty of room and pockets for all the the crap you need.

But, as Jim ages, snaps and zippers stick and break, and inside pockets and netting tears, and little worn places and holes appear, and I have begun to look at retiring him. I saw this cool set-up a guy had down at Big Boys in Mustang that kinda looked like a rolling carry-on; it had a slide-out padded compartment on the lower rear outside that tilted out to hold I think 4 pistols. It was purpose-built, from all appearances. I asked the guy about it; he said that they sold them there for like $100 - $120 bucks. I was gonna get one, but then I spent the money on more ammo instead and just stuffed it in old Jim. I've decided to use him till he just dies then unceremoniously toss him in the dumpster in favor of a newer, younger, better equipped, larger, stiffer and more substantial model. I heard something like that from the wife not long ago when she was pissed at me for something, and dang, they can apply to old Jim pretty well too.

I have an Uncle Mike's range bag for nearly a decade that has is very well built with heavy duty zippers and is in good condition after nearly a decade. Looks a lot like this Blackhawk bag

Academy sells some soft inserts for ammo cans that will hold several pistols and mags.

The backpack that Joel mentioned above is also a GPS product. They make a version with the foam handgun block and another with pistol rugs. Unfortunately both version will only work well with autos and most of my handguns are revolvers. Below are a few photos of my GPS bag...only posting as there are basically zero detailed photos that can be found online for reference. The bag is overkill, but I'll also never need to replace it. I was initially planning to purchase a Midway competition range bag, but for $40 more, the GPS is 10x's the quality.

Bag can carry 6 handguns if you use 4 pistol rugs in the main compartment. Each side pocket also has two removeable rugs. There are labeled pockets for eye protection and ear plugs.

I keep tools and cleaning supplies in one side pocket with parts, loading blocks, and speedloaders in the other.

I use the pockets on ends to store my staple gun, extra staples, gloves, towel, binoculars, and a few misc items.

A nice, heavy duty ammo bag is also included. It has two lined side pockets that could be used to hold two additional handguns if needed. I've found that the divided plastic storage bins in the jewelry dept at Walmart work perfectly for storing loaded moon clips.

There are also adjustable velcro straps on the top of the bag to hold targets.

I have the gps range bag like the one above and a midway range bag.I carry a craftsman toolbag to the range because I got tired of lugging around 40 pounds of weight that I didn't use.

Ended up getting a Fox Tactical Field and Range bag. Got it at a good price from a local army surplus store that is going out of business. Brand new, 40 bucks after the discount. Right now it fits everything and has room for expansion on the sides. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
