I think it would be good to get non shooting parents and kids involved in shooting sports, what do you think? Anyone interested in helping get an event scheduled and support it with volunteers? Anyone have contact with range owner or management? My thoughts is they likely have insurance that may cover an event like this? It could be an all rimfire event to teach most importantly gun safety, range etiquitte and marksmanship. I would think we would have enough certified range instructors that we could have 1 instructor per lane. Others could be gophers and help the event to run smoothly. Fliers at Academy Sports stores, Wal Marts sporting good counters, etc. with information, and an email address for RSVP and/or questions.
I frequently read on here about encounters at the range with unsafe shooters or those that don't understand gun safety. If we can use our knowledge and experience to teach others, it could prevent a firearm injury or death. It could also sway negative opinions of firearms to our side.
This is up for discussion/suggestions and ultimately a request for help to get an event organized and accomplished.
