While I rarely make an effort to watch a game (sports just aren't my thing), I'm really astonished at the level of hate he received when he left. KD was a decent player, no doubt. But OKC's troubles began back when Harden was still here. He left and everyone was good with that. It was a career move for him and it's worked out well. But, OKC still couldn't win a game unless Russ and KD were on the court. They counted on them too much and didn't develop their other players. Heck, even I could see that KD and Russ were butting heads over who was the superstar at that time. KD did what he thought he had to do career wise. I'm glad he got his rings. He always wanted them. But you realize that with the type of foot injury he has, his days playing competitively are numbered. His build lends to another injury that will sideline him eventually. When? It's anybody's guess. But the level of hatred that spewed from the community was just childish. He did a lot of good while he was here, helping the community and the kids. I even loved his restaurant. But people stopped going based on it's name. It changed hands and name and people still wouldn't go, so now it's closed and some crap hole chain is there.

While I was sad to see him leave, I know why he did it. I don't blame him. Every player out there is looking out for number one first and foremost. I seem to remember we were on the other side of the fence when the SuperSonics first came to OKC. Now we are eating crow.
When you work in a physically-demanding field, any injury is potentially career-ending; therefore, you're well-advised to make whatever you can, as early as you can. That goes for everybody from professional athletes to pipeline welders.

I fully support (and would even encourage) college players leaving for the pros at their earliest opportunity just because of the possibility of a career-ending injury. It would really suck to see a multimillion-dollar career end while you're still playing for "free" at OU. You can come back and finish your degree after your injury.

I think that most people fully understand and can sympathize with his reason to leave in free agency. The way he handled the situation is what lost him many people's respect.

It's now two years later and he is still playing the victim through every media outlet available, using fake social media accounts to attempt to justify his actions, denigrate former teammates, etc. Like I said previously...he's an extremely insecure and immature individual. Kevin Durant was (and still is) a phony IMO. He hit the nail on the head.

Kevin, we don't care...STHU.

This dude has to be one of the most insecure sports personalities that I have ever seen.

It is my personal opinion Mama Durant is responsible for that. She has done everything she could possibly think of to keep her cash cow close and it has messed with his self-esteem in a multitude of ways. He was bound to start acting out eventually. To be honest, I'm surprised it took this long.
