Anyone know if there is such thing as a shooting lease? Basically I'd like find someone who has land they'd be willing let me go out and shoot on for set amount of money.
Like a hunting lease but sans the hunting.

Sounds like it would be a bit of a liability for a land owner to do this compared to just a Hunting lease. Not to mention he may not appreciate all the brass and lead that would be left when all said and done.

Is there any reason you (generally speaking a group of 4-6 guys) couldn't afford to go and purchase 20 acres in a remote area where you can do as you like with the property and have unlimited access. I can't imagine half a dozen guys not being able to afford a 15 year mortgage on a small piece of shooting land.

Yeah, the liability issue would be the biggest thing I could see preventing me from finding something, particularly since I’d assume most land has neighboring cattle, but ya never know, I’d be willing to sign whatever I needed to to clear the land owner.

Fortunately/unfortunately it’d just be myself out shooting so I’d make sure brass/shells are picked up. I just bought a house in June so I’m at least a year or two out from being able to buy anything else myself without depleting all of my savings, but that’s definitely the grand plan.

I’m curious why a membership to fouled bore or OKC Gun Club wouldn’t fill your needs.

I really just prefer shooting by myself, I had a VERY close call a few years back at H&H so I’d rather just be where I know I’m the only muzzle pointed down range. I’ve thought about okcgc since I live about 10 mins from there but for the same $ I figured I might try this route.

Yes, I understand that. But, H&H and OKCGC are going to be a totally different experience. If you are that close you should have member take you out there to see it.

I have found the OKCGC to be a very safe and enjoyable place to shoot with WAY more options than I would have shooting on private land.

After your initial start up fees,OKCGC is only $129 a year after a workday. $209 if you don’t do a workday.
365 days a year from 8am to dusk is a heck of a deal.
300 yards is open to anyone. 600 with a short orientation.

It's too bad you aren't closer to me. I love to have guests shooting on my range with me.

I sort of understand your problem, the closest range for me is 1 1/2 hour drive one way and sometimes i just want to be alone when shooting but fortunately for me i have access to 160 acre family owned land to do my shooting on. Now to your question if you have a small LGS around you might hang around and start a discussion with people and you might run across someone that would allow you to go shoot on some land they own once you become friends with them, its going to be hard for someone out of the blue to trust anyone just to come out and start shooting, and i understand that to cause the way people are in todays world the majority of the people dont care about other peoples property so it is hard to get people to trust someone. Years ago i had several ponds i would go fishing on and people started trashing the place up so the last time i showed up and stopped to let the owner know i was entering his property he had to apologize to me and tell he he couldnt allow me to go and i asked why and if i had done something wrong i wanted to know what i had done. He informed me it wasnt me but if he allow me others would want to go to and i told him there was no problem and i understood where he was going and thanked him and left.
