Okay, so we attempted to watch the movie Hostiles last night (I know...I know...we don't get out much). Anyway, the opening totally blew me away, in the worst sense. So, a group of horsemen (I think they were supposed to be Apache?) comes riding toward the house. And the dad's plan is to run out of the sturdy log cabin, into a wide open clearing with no cover, to shoot at them, while his wife and three kids dash out the back door, across maybe 200 yards of open ground, to hide in the woods. Dumbest settler EVER. Not just in the Old West, but in the history of man! Idiot deserved to get shot (I can say that with no moral qualms--he's just a character in a movie).

But then it gets better! The Apaches shoot pistols one-handed from horseback at moving targets about 30-50 yds away, and hit 4 times in a row, scoring fatal hits each time! But SUDDENLY, when they shoot at the wife, they miss repeatedly. Good grief. I thought Hollywood was doing a little better at making gunplay at least semi-realistic. We were so disgusted we turned it off.

(Thanks for letting me vent.)

They must have been shooting firearms worked on by Rijas, but then loaded non-approved ammo when shooting at the wife.

It was an interesting story. Great visuals.

I’ve learned to suspend disbelief when it comes to movies.

Rory Cochrane, from Dazed and Confused and CSI Miami, did a great job as the worn out Master Sergeant Metz. He should’ve won some awards for that role.
