When I listen to the radio I always listen to 96.1 kcy because I like older country. They play a lot of good country songs on the station. Over the last few days I have noticed that their announcer is different. Some of the DJ’s aren’t on when they used to be. Heck I don’t know if they still work there. And the worst part of it all is now they play what sounds like a newer country song every other one. I cannot stomach modern “country”. I refuse to listen to it. Really is disappointing that they changed their format. I am sure they will lose a bunch of listeners over it. I didn’t realize songs made 5-15 years ago were classic country from the 80’s and 90’s. Has anyone else noticed this? I won’t listen to it anymore. Now I listen to big country out of Tulsa.

I listen to a ton of music, but I don't listen to country. I just don't like it. lol. I have all kinds of stuff on my SD card, from Mozart to Metallica, Broadway show tunes to Christian hard rock, etc.

I just can't stomach country, though. And I never listen to the radio. If anything, I'll stream Pandora from my phone or something.

I hate to say I remember when it was a hard rock station before it became country, it was called 96x when they change it over to country they played "Your The Reason God Made Oklahoma" for 24 hours straight. I'm like you I hate when they change formats.

I remember that well. It was in the early eighties.

Sorry to hear that they are adding newer wanna be country music. I don't listen to the radio a lot but I did like to listen to 96.1.

Yep I was around to hear the rock from 96X I think they called it KXXY
I even had a 96X express card.. it was grey in color and plastic.. No idea what it was for I was a teen then.
I was here when the KATT started in 1976.
My mother told me I could not listen to that as it was devil music and I could not go down the street and hang out with those people who listened to it.

Messed up family for sure.
The KATT was on AM for a long time also. Some of my cars only had AM radio.
On the way to lake dirty bird to swim one day with 3 other buddies in my car I turned on the AM radio and a friend hollered TURN IT OFF QUICK!!!

I did and said WHY ..He said don't you know if you listen to AM radio you will go to hell!

We never turned it on again.
Did not sound all that good out of that single speaker in the top of the dash anyway.
1973 or 75 mercury comet was the car. That was a really good car. 250 inline 6.

I listen to a lot of different music too. I just usually listen to country the most. Only rap I’ll listen to is from the 80’s before it became filth. I mostly listen to Sirius or pandora but I’m about out of my data on my phone so I can’t listen to it right now. Lol.

Dave and Dan.....

Either I'm getting old or OKC radio just plain s*cks..

Lot's of dj's that are long gone...mid 70's as a kid 104 and Lester Boogie Michaels....to the KATT and when 96x was rock then to country and KEBC...
107...Mark Shannon and the Egg Man....Lisa Myrick Miller.

To me the dj's made the station...now the station is just that...a station. Even a.m....heck they just got rid of some morning dj's on kokc1520.

Now days I listen to tune in...an awesome country station out of Flagstaff...KAFF Country.

Or I listen to my Sirriusxm.

Okc radio left me....I was forced to leave them.

I remember that too. I thought is was a cruel joke for awhile.

I also hate format and staff changes. They never seem to announce them. It's just poof...they're gone with not a word before or after in most cases. Same with local TV. When I was working in commiefornia I'd stream the OKC stations, usually KATT and KRXO. I was streaming and watching radar when the big tornado came through Moore and everyone was mystified as to how we lived here, especially after seeing it on cable that evening. The guy next to me loved our stations, he said we had the best radio he'd ever heard. How times have changed... :(
