Everything is ratings and sensationalization.... For instance instead of a "perpetrator shooting at officers" it's now "the gunman shot at officers with an assault weapon" And at some point a reporter will say "shots rang out" It rates right up there with "rain events". It all makes me wonder if I should go out and buy tickets or something. Told my wife one night that I should take a shot every time a weather person talked about an "event" during some storms when they broadcast for 6 or 8 hours straight. Quickly figured out I would die of alcohol poisoning before the night was up.

And what's more, he's doubled down on it--he says they were walking on concrete, but he was in wet grass and really was having trouble standing.

Apparently, it didn't occur to him to take two steps to his left.

IMHO, all news, weather and sports should be taken out of the ratings(stand on their own) and then all or most of these monkey feces/one upsmanship/agenda promotion ratings stunts would cease or at least slow down. It's like the local TV stations and their monkey feces/one upsmanship programming when they are trying to outdo each other during the reporting of stormy weather(of any kind). What especially irks me is that if you live more than 35 miles from OKC, all you get to see is what is happening in OKC with occasional blurbs on the outlying towns/areas.

They rely on sensationalism and hype telling people to leave their homes nearly every storm and after awhile, the people ho hum the weather report because the sky really isn't falling. Then the big one comes like in Florence and they desperately call for help and create problems for the rescuers.
