405 gr for the 45-70 out of the lyman mold 457193. Mold is real nice but its only a single cavity. Powder coated them for my first time at it. Second time at casting bullets, kind of addicting and enjoyable.

Very NICE!
Yes it is addicting.
I have often thought for ultimate accuracy a single cavity should throw close to the same size and weight if the temp was stable and alloy was spot on.

Thanks for the compliment. They came out of the mold at .459 with the #2 alloy. I am still learning this. When I slugged the barrel on my Sharps it slugged .457 and I read the cast bullets need to be .001 - .002 bigger than the bore. Loaded 5 up with 13 gr. of Trail Boss and 5 with 30.1 gr. IMR 4198 and shot them at the house range and cleaned the bore and it was cleaner than when using just the cast lubed bullets. I am hooked on the powder coat.

I’ve wondered about using the powder coating process myself for vintage desktop fans, but as the original finish was usually an oil-based enamel, I opted to start learning how to use a HVLP sprayer with One Shot sign painting enamel. Still in the beginning stages of that.

Your powder coating looks great!

I guess muzzle loaders can only fire so fast and only get to a certain heat level, problems may not come from it unless you fire it many times in a row and get it heated up.

It does look real purty though!!!

HVLP guns have a learning curve but once the paint mixture is right they spray great. Car was first HVLP project and Jeep was the second.

You’re telling me. It took me about half a dozen tries until the primer was flowing properly on my first project this afternoon. First attempt, clean out sprayer, second attempt, clean out sprayer.... Hopefully the results will be worthwhile. One Shot enamel is expensive.
