Further down stream, but this shows the river dropping already.

From your link, the historic floods in that area have been devastating to landowners.
Historic Crests
(1) 28.98 ft on 10/11/1973
Not many folks live on the west side of I-35 now in the river bottom.
Those that still live there have had to rebuild and now have houses on raised ground. Wife's Uncle has been flooded out totally three times with the house destroyed. I-35 is like a dam. Only three outlets from the Kansas border south to almost Perry.
The Chikaskia River, the Salt fork River, and Black Bear Creek. Billions of gallons of water can't make it through those outlets without flooding during periods of heavy flooding rainfall.

Didn’t see the buck that has been coming in a 6:25 everyday but did have a couple does really close. This is why I hunt. It’s not to kill stuff but get as close to them as possible.

Haven't heard anything back about the river crest.
I think the rivers are still rising. I crossed the Salt Fork this morning and again this evening.
The issue is Kaw lake today has opened 7 tainter gates, the rooster tails and are generating from the hydro. The Arkansas river is bank full which in return will cause the Salt Fork to back up because it can't dump water. The COE kept it closed as long as they could to help drain the tributary rivers, but with the lake taking in 66,000 cubic feet of water per hour, and the dam discharging 44,000 cubic feet per hour, the lake is 10' high and rising. Going to screw up a lot of deer hunters dreams.

I’m checking the NWS website almost hourly, and their measurements have been basically the same for about 36 hours. It’s not still going up, but it’s NOT falling either. I know rivers go up and generally go back down fairly fast, so I figured it must be a “man-made” reason why it wasn’t dropping this time.

Thanks for the info!

I’ve only got two cameras reporting now, so I’m expecting the worst for the other three. I’ve got a Browning camera and corn feeder with 25 yards of the river and am expecting to have to replace them both.
Oh well, I guess it’s just part of hunting ON the river.
