This will be my last year in the Tri City Gun Club. This year’s renewal meetings have fallen on drill weekends for me, and I can’t get the club leadership to communicate with me, so I guess I’m just going to have to let my membership lapse. I have mixed feelings about it, some of the leadership and some of the members were...unlikeable. But there were other members that were really great, and, in my opinion, the facility is fantastic. So there are certainly aspects of giving up my membership that I’m unhappy about. Long story short, I gotta find a new place to shoot.

I live in Norman. OKC Gun Club is a little far for me, considering having to drive through the city. We’ve got a couple pistol ranges in town, but I’d like 100yds or more for center fire rifle. I know there’s the Lexington public range, Wilshire, and of course Fouled Bore. Is there anything else in the are worth considering?

Depending on where you are in Norman, BDC Gun Room by the Firelake casino in Shawnee isn't all that far. I've only been there once, but it was a nice place.

I dumped my membership at TCGC this year too. Got tired of the nonsense.

I dropped by Lexington one day and it’s actually nice. I know when Deer Rifle season gets closer I’ll probably avoid it though.

Can you expound on the "nonsense" you are talking about? What did they do to cause you to drop them? I shot out there once at an ENS and liked the facility. There was one fella who, while I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, sort of acted like he was the only one there who knew anything about firearms and safety and kind of treated us like noobs, but it wasn't a show stopper by any means

The big complaints I've heard about TCGC are people driving a long way to get there only to find one or all of the ranges closed for an event that's not on the calendar; closing the rifle range for a pistol shoot (instead of using the pistol range); and downright rude range "officials."

I haven't been a member in quite a few years, and I didn't experience that, but I usually went there when most people weren't there. I did get the impression that a few of the club officers thought their poo didn't stink and their farts smelled sweet, but they were the exception, not the rule.

The one drawback to Lexington is the yearly American tradition of re-sighting your old gun or the new one you just bought for the upcoming deer seasons. But to be honest it wasn’t any better at TCGC.
