What is your definition of a scope that is sighted? Mine is bulls eye at 100yds.
My .30-06 is approx 1" high at 100yds. Had some open land back when I sighted it in.
Is this the 1" high at 100 is a 200 zero theory?

If the Yote drops at the edge of the blottoms from the back porch, that scope is sighted in just fine...lol
But in all honesty, my AR platforms are sighted in to the Army qualification standard and my Long Range hunter (300 Win Mag ) is 3 rounds in a dime (inside edges) at 200m from supported (lead sled) of course. I think it is just a matter of what makes you comfortable.

I think it was a bit farther. Had lots of coyotes, probably 400 yds or so was the farthest I killed one, and didn't allow for drop IIRC.
Was using Federal 110gr and/or 125gr (whichever I could find).
I've tried several different methods of sighting a centerfire rifle. Zero at 100, Point Blank method where you sight in at 4" high or so depending on your caliber, velocity, BC, and all that crap to hit the vitals out to 600 yards or so.
For me, I sight in at 100 yards to zero, shoot at different ranges with my handloads, note the drop, and the notes are taped on my stock as real world results, but committed to memory before hunting whatever caliber I'm taking to the field.
It's a keep it simple method, but once I find a load each of my rifles likes, I don't change. That load is locked in and will be used from now on.
I'm not like some of the folks at our range in Ponca. We have a guy that is at the range daily testing loads.
I get it. He likes to reload and he likes to shoot, and he has probably tried every combination of powder/bullet on earth, as a hobby.
I like to shoot as well, but when I hit the sweet spot for that gun, it goes into the ledger, and move on to the next.
Once you reach the end of your collection.....you know what comes next. New caliber, new testing.

I never adjust the turrets. I found it just easier for me to do it that way and to 500 yards I have no issues.
My 30-30 with fixed 4 power and 4 plex scope I set Zero at 250 yards. and I knew at 100 it would be 8" high.
I hunted fields and pipelines when I did that.
Worked great and put meat in the freezer.

My 223/5.56 are all sighted in for the creek out back and the 30.06 is to the fenceline back behind the creek. Most of the .22's are sighted in for the hickory tree at the back acreage, but a few are sighted into the Oak due to squirrels.
I have mine sighted to look in the lady's bedroom window down the road.
