Small buck takes on Shawnee area pastor.

I grew up with this guy and went to the church he pastors for awhile several years ago.

It happened just West of town off of highway 177 on the church property.

That was on the evening news here. Lucky he only had minor injuries.

From the comments on his fb post several people in the area have had encounters with this same deer.

It doesn't seem to be afraid of people, and one person said that it was pen raised nearby. ???

Well... the guy was more gentle with it than I would have been.

If I'd had a grip on the deer like he did, it would probably have a broken neck or broken antler(s).

I have a very low opinion of animals that attack humans for no reason. That includes other humans.

That is just like church people. The pastor is being attacked and the people just watch and not come to his aide. If he carried he had a few chances to draw and fire.

I saw that yesterday too. Pretty funny considering I wasn’t the one getting gored.

177 has some crazy dang deer. A few years ago, I was heading home on a foggy night when I hit a pea-soup thick bank of fog in one of those valleys north of Jacktown. I had slowed way down when the fog thinned and I saw a buck standing on the centerline, so I slowed down even more.

The daft thing just stood there as I gave him a wide berth and crept past him, then about the time he was by my door, he turned and ran into the side of my truck. I didn't see him go down, and he didn't do any damage to my truck, but still...

Kinda what I thought. Someone could have hobbled that buck with a belt, laid it down, called the GW and it would have been a great story with nobody getting gored.
