OU's defense did much better for sure, but ... Kyler Murray. There's the big difference. Never seen anything like it; that kid can play some football.
I totally agree. He may have solidified his bid and overtook Tua for the Heisman Trophy. That would be amazing!

Yep, but in thinking more about my reply above, if the D hadn't got those stops and turnovers, the Sooners Would be looking at another loss. I guess a lot of credit needs to go to the defense too. But put about another player in the country under center and OU isn't near the team they are with Murray taking the snaps. Incredible talent and incredible poise. He does not get rattled. And when he sees an opening, he's gone!

Agreed. He is phenomenal.
Well he is technically a professional athlete.

No doubt he is very talented but I'm sure it helps him mentally to play at the level he does knowing what awaits him in the future.

His $4.66 million signing bonus is almost as much as what Riley's salary is this year.

If OU's defense was just good, they would be playing for the national championship this year. With a very good (not great) defense, they would beat Bama.
If OU only had a mediocre defense they'd be playing for a NC. How many red zone stops have they had this year? Two? Yes it's two, I looked it up.

OU is ranked #128 in red zone defense. Opponents have scored 95.3% of the time when in the red zone and the only team worse is Kent State. Freaking Tulsa is ranked #50! Incidentally, OSU is tied with 2 others at #12. Can we hire Tulsa's defense? Because if we had it, we be in the playoffs for sure.

So I agree with you, If we had a good defense, OU would spank Alabama like a red headed step child and Kyler would be guaranteed the Heisman.

True but Kyler Murray is a Texas high school legend. The loss to Texas this year at the Red River Rivalry was his first loss since his junior high school days. It's not the money that gives him his confidence, It's his record and knowing he is a great athlete. JMHO

Not something many baseball players can say.

I don't even understand how Tua is favored. It's supposed to be the best PLAYER not the best team.
