I want to know when the ice is supposed to start? I could use a free paid day off on Friday...lol

Last report I heard from the ever enthusiastic Mike Morgan on KFOR Channel 4 was sometime shortly AFTER you’ll get off work...on Friday, at the normal time. (Bummer; that). However, at least most of you poor souls who must continue to toil for The Man will get home and begin enjoying your Swanson’s Hefty Man Frozen Dinner shortly before the ice begins to take over the roads. I just hit the Yukon Walmart, (in Yukon), this morning and didn’t have to stand in line too long at all to be able to strip the shelves of the last loaves of bread and then quickly beat feet to the dairy department to snatch the remaining few jugs of milk, much to the dismay of the young, pregnant, single mom right behind me complete with 3 crying kids (they can just put tap water on their Cocoa Puffs). That is, unless she wants to buy a jug from me, at a small mark-up of course, out in the parking lot after she leaves the now locust-smitten aisles, empty handed, red of eye, and worried how she’ll feed her hungry children. (I did leave a can of creamed Mustard Greens on the shelf for her). Anyway, it’s looking grim for you pal. So just suck it up and get out there on pot-hole patrol.

Here, but occasionally There.
Wife and I drove into Norman today to do our normal morning walk in the Mall. This time, we took the Ford F450 to exercise it and since my 5-gallon fuel cans are in it, we drove by and got some 100% gas for our Honda EU3000iS generator. That should fix us up easily. One advantage of living in an RV is that one runs the generator long enough to recharge the batteries (and make one's coffee), and then one just sits back and stays warm. All the lights (except for on the ceiling fan) are 12-volt as well as the two 30,000 btu furnaces. Oh, and since the LPG for the RV is hooked up to a 250 gallon LPG tank, I don't have to haul 40# cylinders in to be filled.

Hope it's a bust, generator is sitting in my shop with a small amount of gas, what was left over from using it for a project this summer. If the power goes out I will have a bit of work to do before we can be on the generator. Did put the truck under cover in case we need it to get out, maybe that will be enough to ward off snowmegidon

Out of curiosity, how much gas do these portable generators burn? I have done a *little* research but it looks like those numbers aren't easy to find. The house we are moving into is generator ready and the previous owner had a 8000 watt Generac but the owner said she hadn't used it in years and didn't know how much it used. I would love to have one of the Honda generators that have the nat gas conversion, but just not thrilled with the many thousands of $$$ they cost...

My 5500 watt Coleman would run my entire house - lights, freezer, TV, Pellet stove for heat and one burner on the electric range and it had a 11 gal tank that would burn for about 22-24 hours I think. I never really let it run out so not for sure.

Our 5500 watt brigs has a 5 gal tank and will run our house for about 12 hours. Depends on the load, all we run is lights, TV, frig and central heat.

Mad man Mike Morgan just threw a blanket over the great ice storm tonight. Little to any ice and little to no snow in my area. That sucks. I was looking to do some drift busting on the ATV.
