Removed an old doe with pistol and within a week immediately 3 other does moved in. Then mid Jan 5 young bucks with the largest two being a 3 pointer. Both missing one side. She had always been on camera pawing and kicking other deer over the last few years then her and only her young would stay around. Here is a pic of her few years after she got caught in some t-post that was setup to knock off antlers near a feeder. The other ear is straight down to the side of her head.

Those old does can be just as rough or rougher on their own gender as a dominant buck with his. Dennis has been watching some and the dominant nanny runs the corn pile lol

Not only the pile she’s working on but she runs them off all the other piles as well. We’ve been putting out around 5-6 piles in a line of about a quart of corn each. I think we need to scatter them about at further distances.

Similar experience on my place. I had an old doe that was a bully to all the other doe and fawns. She was barren for the second year in a row, so maybe she was just a bitter old hag.

When she would walk into sight, the others would simply walk away. They wouldn’t even wait to get their butts kicked. She showed up during youth hunt and with no hesitation, I told my daughter to take her out. For the rest of season, I had doe and fawns hanging out at that feeder all the time.
