I know that a handful of us are still waiting on pistols from the CMP. If you've received a CMP pistol or have a US property 1911 variant, feel free to share photos here. I'd love to see what you guys have in your collection.

I've already posted photos of both my pistols previously, but I'll post them again.

1. M1911A1 Springfield Armory arsenal rebuild. Type 3 Remington Rand slide, 1943 Ithaca frame, High Standard barrel, WWII Keyes grips, with a mix of Remington and Ithaca parts. Shown with an unissued Gratton & Knight M1916 holster, M1936 pistol belt, etc (nothing is reproduction).

2. M1911A1 that's been polished and reblued. Type 2 Union Switch & Signal slide, 1943 Ithaca frame, High Standard barrel, WWII Keyes grips, nearly all remaining parts are Ithaca.

Lucas and Jimmy, is there a way to date a slide?
BTW, that 13 is a thing of beauty Jimmy.

I agree...that 1913 is phenomenal.

As far as I know, you can only narrow the date range down based on the type for each manufacturer (typically distinguished by markings). Some Colt manufactured pistols will have serial numbers stamped under the firing pin retaining plate so they would be the only dateable slides that I am aware of.

Lucas, your bandage pouch should be centered at the rear of the cartridge belt, K Bar on left behind the mag pouch, canteen on left behind K Bar. at least that's how we did it in 66. and holster i carried one set of grommets to the rear so the pistol wouldn't beat up my right hip, carry the heavy stuff so the hips don't take a beating. but it's your rig, do whatcha want. i sold an early holster to a guy at the M14 forum cause he had his Father's WWII pistol, the holster had been modded by whomever wore it, it had leather patches sewn into the inside covering all the brass a pistol might contact.

Ray,

I have the FAP in that location just because it is easier to hang for display. I don't have the canteen mounted for the same reason. Most photos that I see, the pouch is located at 1:00 or 6:00 like you carried it.

Was most of the gear that you were using at that time attached with the M1910 style hooks or had the USMC started to use the M1956 type with ALICE clips?
