Ok so I have this outdoor propane cooker that was given to me many years ago.

The burner is positioned pretty low and by the time the flame gets to my cooking pot on top it is a yellow flame.

Common sense tells me the burner needs moved closer to the item being heated get some hotter blue flame on it.

Cut and weld and now the burner is 3" closer to my cooking pot.
Should take less energy now to heat my lead and the process should happen much faster too boot.
If anyone needs the same done to their cooker I will gladly do it for free if you bring it here.

Yellow flame doing the cooking..not good ! :)

Just in case nobody knows altho I'm sure a lot do, you can get the small bottles of propane filled at Tractor Supply for the bulk price of gas. Just what ever they put in is what you pay. If I have company and am cooking I'll change bottle to full one so I don't worry about running out( I have 8 or 9 small ones) 20 lb bottle last week was about $10 I think

Here in Ponca, Atwoods refills them like your Tractor Supply does. You only pay for the fuel dispensed.

I figured I screwed up.
I have only ever had 1 filled and that place closed down and I have only once exchanged a bottle.
Today makes 2 times in my life.

I just do not use very much propane and I have bottles given to me many times and full ones.
But i passed those on to other friends that do use propane.. I left myself with one almost empty one.
That has lasted 3 years.

No pics yet. yes a large outdoor turkey fryer .. that you can put a 15" skillet onto.
looks a little like this but much taller and what I did was notch the area above the burner input so you could move it up higher.
And I cut the strap that goes under the burner to hold it and just moved it up and re welded it.
look at this one and you will see a little what i mean.

UHaul also just charges for the amount they put in. I go through a 20 lb bottle about every 4 weeks just for the grill. If I use a portable heater in the shop it is even more.

Gotcha. Mine's made a little different, but I could do something similar. I should have spent the day yesterday melting down some wheel weights, but I didn't get the job done. Have to hope for another good weather day soon!
