The only way you will really know is to cut one in half. Lots of 762x39 have bi metal jackets. Looks copper but has enough steel in it to drag a magnet

Just keep in mind steel core doesn’t automatically equal true AP...it's just steel core. I don't believe 9121 is considered AP ammo.

Sounds like you have basic import 7.62x39...with the "neat" factor of it being Chinese. I think Chinese import ammo is still restricted. That might fetch a premium from someone looking for it...

Thanks guys, I will cut one in half to satisfy everyone.

Sectioning it will reveal how the projectile is constructed...but still won't show if it's AP.

Steel core doesn't equal AP. You'd have to do a hardness test on the steel component. I don't think 9121 Chinese stuff was ever considered AP, but just the fact that it's Chinese will apparently bring a premium if you try to sell it.
