So in the future we'll be able to sue the oil company(s) for the gas used in the car and the car manufacturer because a drunk killed someone. That's where this is headed.
More importantly.
When an illegal invader kills someone, we should be able to go after the democrat politicians that allow sanctuary cities.

I've always advocated for fixing the current data sharing before pushing for more laws.

Yessir! I thought that exact thing when I was listening to the Dems push their bill yesterday that extended the background check wait period from 3 days to 20 days. Surely some sort of record sharing database could be put together to make the delays zero days. I'm pretty sure their bill won't make it thru the Senate and even if it did I don't really think it would affect me because I've never been delayed on a check. The whole thinkin of more laws instead of makin sure the process is up to snuff is what disgusts me. I wonder how many of those folks are just ignorant and how many are just stupid.

I'm not sure they are ignorant or stupid. They are after votes and staying in power. They've been told countless times that what is needed is for the current laws to be enforced instead of making new laws. That applies on the state level as well as federal. For instance, why advocate for a "texting while driving" bill instead of enforcing the current "distracted driving" law?
