Currently I have the standard Front sight gas block on my AR as it came from the factory but have been thinking of going to a flat or picitanny block and using a flip up front. I like the handguards as they are and was wondering if anyone knows of such a gas block that would be compatible with the existing ring held forends? Thanks in advance as I’m sure there are more knowledgeable folks than me on here.

First I would make sure the gas block on your rifle can be removed. Several manufactures pin and weld the flash suppressor onto the barrel, making the gas block removal near impossible.

Weld the gas block? That’s a new one on me.

Never seen a welded gas block. Two very dissimilar metals. Most have tapered pins that must be driven out in the correct direction. Some such as Ruger use straight pins. A bolt on or clamp on block with a rail groove can be pushed into place holding the hand guard end piece into place

Do you have a photo? That may help, the "standard front sight gas block" is throwing me off. Is it an A2 front sight?

Never-mind, I see what your saying. I haven't seen a gas block like that, most people are usually changing over to a free float handguard.
