A better explanation since you're just cherry picking what you want to see.

One thing to highlight is that people that believe this is a gateway drug must realize the widespread use of weed for years. IF this were true, then you'd see a LOT less weed out there, and even more meth and opiate use.

Actually according to real time border patrol stats, there is an explosion of meth and opiates across our borders. Weed is trending down because the cartels are making more money with Heroin, Fentanyl, Cocaine, Meth.
Pot is a low profit drug that is high volume in density when trying to hide it to get it across the border. Hence the local illicit, illegal growers in the US are taking up the slack with pot farms and prosecution is being lowered or ignored in some cases.
Illegal pot across our southern borders is still immense with the illegal importation.

Glad you brought that up. Since drug abusers can’t doctor shop now the cartel has refocused their illegal importation of high value drugs now vs pot. Its all economics for them.
Why rely on huge cubic feet of smuggling to get a lower profit pot into the US when a small compartment that is easily hidden will bring in much more money?
Bubba in the US is taking up the slack and undercutting the tax based pot for the states where its legal. I’ve posted links before to back that’s the case. Look it up.
Tons upon tons of pot is being captured by the border patrol at this time but they are only getting a small percentage of what actually comes across the border illegally.
Of course there is no accurate way to know the numbers that are coming across illegally, but those on the front lines in the border have a pretty good idea of what is going on vs CNN and the liberal media.
Have you seen the stats of illegals crossing in just the lower Rio Grande valley in February?
It’s frightening.
If your relying on any news media for your facts other than Fox, and they have been wrong in the past occasionally, your just seeing political bullshat.

The crisis at the border is real. There are hoards of “asylum seekers” standing at the border entry points waiting to apply for legal status when in reality they don’t qualify.
Trump has stopped the apply and disappear that Obama set up by requiring those applicants to stay in Mexico unless approved and Mexico hates it, but they let them in on their southern border.
Yes you are correct, drug cartels have been more focused on Herion and meth but that didn't happen last night lol.
That began some 10 years ago or so as more states legalized marijuana use.
It's not new news

Right, I agree. But that has nothing to do with what I said. I dunno about illegal vs legal numbers. Point remains that IF weed was a gateway drug, the epidemic we see now would be considerably worse, and the pot demand lower.
