No, buffer tube. Some places list them as rifle vs pistol length. I guess milspec covers the diameter and length. For someone just learning the terms and types it gets a bit confusing when trying to communicate what you are getting.
Technically there are only two buffer tube “lengths”:
Rifle = A1 or A2 length fixed stocks (non collapsible)
Carbine = shorter collapsible system. Can be 5-7 positions.
There are some proprietary intermediate lengths, such as the VLTOR A5 system.
“Pistol” is a carbine length non adjustable (typically round profile) buffer tube.
