Its starting to look like a rifle finally! Lower just needs the castle nut torqued, stock installed, a buffer spring and buffer. Upper needs the forward assist installed and I need to purchase the barrel, gas block, gas tube, comp and handguard and install them.
Nice. Looking good. Do you have a handguard picked out?

EDIT: Oops. Hadn’t seen your latest post yet.

Now that is tempting! Will have to put it on the list. Right now I'm tallying everything up and seeing how much I have left to spend. Still quite a bit to get. Do handguards usually come with their own barrel nut for mounting?
Usually, but there’s a few that don’t. The UTG does.

UPS finally dropped my upper off today took PSA about 10 days to ship it. The FreeFloat looks a lot different in color in the photo but is actually not much different to the eye. Need to hit the LGS tomorrow and pick up an AFG and small M-Lok to Picatinny in case I want to put a bi-pod on it. I wanted to take it out this afternoon but my boy had soccer practice so hopefully in the next day or two we can shoot it. Still trying to decide what type of optic to use also. Decisions ..decisions. I went ahead and dropped in the 3.5#JP spring kit and its at 4.5# I can live with that for now. Overall no issues and pretty impressed for less then $500 bucks it all fits well and no issues putting anything together.

Very nice! I'm actually going to go to USSA tomorrow if you wanna take it out for a test spin. Right now waiting on some tax funds to get out of Uncle Sam's grip and into my pocket before I finish my upper. Got the parts in the mail to finish the lower (including the Magpul wrench and a upper vise clamp). But I'm in need of some trigger time, due to schedule and mother nature I'm down to about 1 range visit a month.

*edit* And I wish my build was less than 500 lol, I've got almost that in just the trigger :D But, my first build so I'm putting what I want into it in case its my only build for a while.

Looking good. Amazing what $500 can buy these days.

It looks like PSA may be getting those handguards from Midwest Industries. I really like the MI handguards.

What’s the benefit of not having your rear sight as far back as possible?

Maybe a vision thing? I can barely focus on things 2 ft from my face, so I might have to do the same thing. On my current AR I have a red dot on it, so I don't use the irons, not sure how my aging vision would work with it.
