I have more sockets than anyone probably, except for 10mm-for some reason that socket seems to run and hide when it sees me coming for it and hides so I have to buy another set. I think I know where some went, my son used to borrow my tools to work on his VW and I'd find a socket that rolled into the street and chew him out. I guess I didn't find them all.

Then we know who the engineers that designed these cars are! I have one of their designs sitting in the garage. No spare tar.

Because 10mm is one of the most commonly used sizes. That's why. It's the one you need, which automagically makes it the one you can't find.

Exactly! that's why they should sell a set of nothing but 10mm sockets!

I always found mine in the grass outside the shop where the kids worked on their bicycles. Why wouldn't they work on them in the shop?

Well, duh!!!

Concrete's too hard. Ground with grass is much easier, even on young bodies.

I'll check it out. I recently found a drill press with an autofeed that is a mechanical marvel in an old barn. I'm talking with the owner to see if I can buy it from him. He let me go into his barn because I was looking for a replacement part for an old spring tooth and he had some in there he thought. They weren't the right part, but then spotted the drill press. It's actually still operational. Hand crank operated with the auto feed. No electric needed. Uses a flywheel system to keep the spindle running.

Edit: looked at that site. One of the first posts I saw had some gears for the South Bend I've been looking for to thread single point.
