My moto is “if I can do it myself I will”. Well, I came across an auction with this equipment for sale and I decided to jump on board and bid on them. The equipment is from the City of Tulsa service shop in west Tulsa. I got the equipment home and tested everything and they seem to work well and both are in great condition.

Now I can buy tires online and get installed at a convenient place!

Anyway, after I get everything setup, I may be opening shop for fellow OSA members. I have a shop at my house with a 2 post lift and most of the equipment needed for automotive work. However if you guys are like me, I’ve had a hard time finding someone I trust or that was reasonably priced to dismount / mount tires, then balance them, so I bit the bullet and invested in something I always wanted.

Ugh brings back old memories from my college years. Worked at a tire shop doing mount and balance, mount and balance... It was mind numbing.

Buddy got some 44" super swampers and all the tire shops he went to could not mount those bug suckers.
He called me and I got out my homemade bead breaker kind of like the harbor freight one.
Broke the beads off his 31x10.5x15 on 10" wide wheels and got the soap and tire spoon out.
Got them off and I got to keep those and then mounted the 44"s he was happy.

Been a long time since I used a tire machine about 1989 i would guess.
I have been using the tire spoon since then.

Nice, I am always stuck using some spoons to pull them off and put them back on. Need to dismount and remount all my tires right now as the outside edge was wearing till I got the bushings replaced.

As a kid I helped someone do about 40 tires in a day, pulling cores, breaking the bead with a bumper jack under a 57 Chevy he had, spooning them off an on and then inflating and popping the bead back on the rim etc.

We've got a tire machine in our shop here at the ranch. It saves us a ton of time not having to run to town. I just did some quick math and counting our trucks, trailers and hay equipment we've got atleast 104 tires. Something is always flat around here. Lol

P.S. VERY IMPORTANT! Always store tires standing up! If they lay flat on the ground, especially in a stack, they are much harder to seat the bead! Not sure how I learned that.

Damn that is AWESOME!

And for ya'll that don't know, @SlugSlinger ain't jokin' about helpin' people out! He spent a TON of his own time helping me last fall on my truck and I can't thank him enough to this day! My truck looks 1000x better and I am super happy with the changeover. We did a lift and new shocks and I got new wheels and tires done at a shop.

Hell, I gotta do some stuff to my 370Z, but it'll be a bit of work to get it on that lift, as it sits so low. Dan, if you're up for it, I might be in the market to do new tires and possibly new wheels on my little baby. Pretty sure it needs new shocks, too, and I KNOW I need to do an alignment on it... I don't think I want to do coilovers, though. That would be the time to do it, but I just don't think I have the need.

Dan's the man, guys. Seriously. I learned SO much from him doing that project, and I was seriously intimidated, but he took over and did an amazing thing helping me out.
