I thank you for the offer but not sure I could put anyone else health at risk plus I have no way to get rid of the old carpet, or to even help.

I’ve got respiratory products I can donate. I’m sure another member has a trailer and access to a dump. Just willing to lend a hand, not trying to impose.

Trust me, you are not imposing at all, I just feel bad letting others do what I should be able to do myself. Not being able to do the simple things like mow, fix the roof, or tear up the living room carpet is driving me nuts. I mostly found ways to mow without pissing off the wife to bad but the rest is beyond me and I feel I should be doing them myself. Sucks getting old.

I don’t know your situation, but sometimes one can not afford NOT to do something. Especially when you’re health is at stake and may be costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, much less your comfort.
I’d be glad to come work for a few hours removing carpet and moving furniture. We could vacuum, clean the floor and probably put down some epoxy or other inexpensive floor covering.

This is a good point. Sometimes a little change can start to turn things around. Regardless of your situation.

I would be glad to help out on this too. I remodel houses for a living so no old carpet scares me. I just put on a mask and gloves and get it done. Bust up the tack strips with a rotary hammer. Scrape, sweep and mop.

Do you have big trash pick up in your area? You could utilize that as well. It’s amazing what they can pick up and haul off in seconds.

Rick I would think about taking these guys up on the offer. If your carpet stinks and it gets worse when it rains or has high humidity. You would do yourself a favor to get it pulled out and disposed of. Also if indoor pets have been on it. A black light will show you all the damage. Just know that the top of carpet doesn't tell the story the bottom does. Its not going to be sealed like a garage so it shouldn't be slick.

Yes Rick, come on dude, I know well the frustration of not being able to do things anymore. I haven't mowed my own lawn in 2 years and 5 years ago I had a full shop and was always in it working on something, taking care of a 1 acre yard, taking care of 7 acres of Bermuda pasture and some cattle that I raised. Suddenly I have a disease and the cure they thought was a drug, one that (unbeknownst to me) was commonly given as a chemo drug for caner and its #1 side effect was nerve damage in your extremities. No I live with constant pain in my feet as well as no feeling in my toes for balance so it's all I can do to walk to my desk at work and home again. I have muscle tremors in my hands n arms as well as legs. I cant write my name some days and I dont dare go down stairs unless I back down because I can not accurately place my foot where I wont tumble down. It sucks so take these guys help and get rid of the carpet. Carpet is the single most nasty thing in most houses. Its a huge filter and needs removed. I have some carpet in my new house but before long, it's getting replaced with a nice wood floor or tile that looks like wood with a large area rug in the living room that I can take out and clean.
Mold will kill you dude, take it serious and stop making excuses.

Okay guys. If a couple of you want to come do this, we really just need the living room carpet ripped up. With the the foster and rescue dogs that come thru here and as old as it is, it needs to go. Rest of the carpet is not that bad. If you can put it on the curb we will request a city pickup. Figure out what day works for you and if it does not clash with a doc appointment it is fine with us. We will move what we can and make sure the ankle biters are put up. :P

Oh and if anyone wants the TV, you can have it. An older 32" Sony that works but my old eyes can not see it well. Includes remote, digital converter box, and hernias for those that try to move it. Entertainment center may be given away too. I am not sure yet. A friend thinks he has an older LED TV he wants to give us. He does not remember if it works or is a 43" or 50". If 50" our center will not work so we will have to wall mount or something. I should know this evening.

Just got back from the doc and got lectured on the little bit I have been doing. Don't you hate it when the wife is right? I know I am going to hear about it for weeks and I feel like a 3 year old. They will not let me do anything and want me to take a freaking nap! :censored::censored::censored:

Hang in there, Rick.

Your handling things better than I would have, I'm sure.

BTW....still looking for a wood stocked mini 14?
