The article also said you could be trespassed if they had a no guns sign, but I believe you can only be trespassed if they have a no guns sign AND ask you to leave, and you refuse. That's my understanding at least, correct?

So I think they had at least a couple of errors.

The news outlets are always a comedy of errors.

You can be trespassed for pretty much any reason. Lets say you walk on to private property and have have a shirt on the property owner does not like. They ask you to leave and you refuse, they then tell you that you are trespassing because you refused to leave and call the police who forcibly remove you. It's private property rights in play here. However if you refuse to leave is where most of the issue comes up. The no guns sign does not issue an automatic trespass but it is also not needed if you are asked to leave. This is also the reason why 2A auditors should not be traipsing around on private property.

Walmart does not have no guns signs up but they have a policy of no open carry in place the same as target. If they see it from my understanding they are supposed to ask you to cover and if you refuse you are then asked to leave at which point in time you will probably be told if you come back onto the property you will be trespassing.

Yes but the news channel did say no carry when it's actually no open carry. They need to get the facts straight before they say that on air.
Even the SPD spokesperson on the news said that WM has a no firearms policy.

Then the reporter was saying the same thing as they were showing the no open carry sign.

These idiots just make it up as they go

That is one of the reasons why I could not stand watching some of the shows my wife liked. All the "true" crime stuff and officers talking about this or that when if you know a few things you can tell they didn't know squat. Things that are stated as fact that are being stated wrong among other things. About ten minutes into those shows and I can no longer stand to listen to the dribble...

That is also the reason why I no longer care to watch the news other than to see a headline or two and the weather. I don't even care what the actual headline is supposed to be about if they are going to try and run a commentary on it.

Not picking on you but you are just illustrating the point of most of this thread. The damn law is so confusing it seems to me you almost have to test it in various locations to get the proper definition. "You can carry a gun here but not 1000 ft over there." "You can carry a gun in here but not openly" "You can't carry in a bar which IS the most likely place you would need one." "You can't carry into the city offices or on city property but you can in city parks." I mean WTF guys!! If you are going to have constitutional carry IT SHOULD BE EVERYWHERE!

I think I mixed up being trespassed with a fine. If they have a no gun sign AND ask you to leave and you refuse, you can be fined (like $100?). I should go back and read the bill again, but I'm too lazy. LOL!
