OK, I have been told by a few "neighbors" in the area that during deer hunting season (some say just during bow season), it is not legal to shoot on a personal rage on your own property.

I'm pretty sure they are full of it, but I have not been able to find any documentation to either confirm or deny this. Can someone point me to something I can use to prove them wrong?

Yeah that's not true. There's no shooting season on land where it's legal to shoot.

That said please don't be like some folks around our lease that love to come out about 1 hour before dark on peaceful evenings during primetime and reenact the north Hollywood shootout. I'm always sitting there wondering why they couldn't have shot midday at least. Yeah yeah maybe they work all day 7 days a week but in Cherokee county it's more likely they woke up at noon and only decided to pop off some rounds after their 30 of Busch light ran out and they realized it's almost dark.

On the bad time for shooting note I was recently camping in new mexico (not hunting) on 1 of 2 public land tracts in a GMU that draws 20 deer gun tags. Their were several groups of hunters camped. One group got bored of hunting on the second day I guess and drove a little ways from camp and shot 22s etc at sunset. It's a 3 day season.

I'm like first of all why even apply if you are not going to hunt, second of all if you must shoot you stand around camp all day then shoot at primetime? It's legal to shot there but geeze.People are bizarre.

This past Sunday some jackwagon east of me decided to fire up the chainsaw at like 4 . . . and ran that thing until dark.

Granted it was maybe a 1/4 mile away or more, but still. Don't do that crap.

I've got a siren on my feedtruck that I call cattle up with in several spots around the ranch. There's actually two of us on different sections of the ranch doin this. We've got a few deer hunters out here and I always cringe when I hit the siren cuz I just know one of our hunters was just about to pull the trigger when I hit the siren. Lol. None of em has ever said anything but surely it's happened.
