Walmart in Duncan shooting this morning, three killed

You have 2 good choices in a situation like this: 1 you can just join them for a little fun or 2 turn around and walk away and dont look back.

I don’t believe I would have confronted the shooter, unless he had turned to enter the store. However one never knows the intentions or the intensity at any given situation. Taking cover is rule 1, access the situation rule #2. Observation is paramount in getting it right then make the correct or seemingly correct decision prior to taking action. I know seconds count, all this decision making takes time, what you decide will have life changing consequences for everyone involved.

Not only to mention the risk you are taking with LEO. It was reported that LEO was on scene within 60 seconds of getting the call (not sure how accurate that is) but *anyone* with at a gun at that time is taking an EXTREME RISK in regards to getting shot.

I can't say what I would do in that situation, but if I knew the LEO presence was imminent (as in I can see them approaching) then I am not engaging the perp unless he is a DIRECT threat to ME or those that are with me.

Perhaps I should have been a little more clear, I was referencing the fellow who had confronted the “Shooter”. Wait..and see what his next movements were, make sure no one else was being target.

Aubrey Perkins was recently released (August) after spending 15 years in prison.

It appears he found the lord during his incarceration and was accepting his release as a Second Chance. His public face book posts were primarily religious in nature and reflected the second chance.

Aubrey Perkins was 39 years old. He came to a Long View Church service in early September with one of our families. After church he and I talked and I learned that he had construction experience and needed a job. We really needed his help building the church building. From that day forward he provided 10 weeks of fabulous help in all areas of construction. Our church folk adopted him and they loved him and he very quickly became family. I personally spent 8-12 hours a day working with him for the past 10 weeks.

There was nothing he couldn’t or wouldn’t do, from plumbing, to Sheetrock, to woodwork to concrete and HVAC. He was a young strong athletic man who could lift just about anything. He was highly intelligent and I recognized immediately that he had a bright future. He was scripturally wise well beyond his years and had exceptional faith. He never missed work and he never was even late. The day he arrived, my life got much easier. We all knew he was a gift from God. Each morning for 10 weeks he had the building open and the day lined out when I arrived, that is until today.

When I arrived today he was nowhere to be found. He had gone to Duncan to visit and to take care of some of his personal business there he had told me Friday. He said he would see me Monday morning but he did not show for the first time in 10 weeks. I immediately knew something was wrong because this young man had a tremendous sense of responsibility.

Well most all of you have heard by now that Aubrey was in a car with a female childhood friend from Duncan at a Walmart in Duncan when a man approached the car and killed them both and then killed himself. It is a national news story tonight but what they all fail to say is that he was such a wonderful giving, serving talented young man that will be tremendously missed by all who knew him. He is with his Savior now, out of this fallen world. Thank you Aubrey for all you did for so many.
