I assume your electric bill shows KWH usage. With a little math, that should give you a general idea.

It will vary month to month though, so check one where your bill is high.

Thats not a measure of daily needed amperage at all.
Thus the need for a little math. KWH used in a month will indeed convert to AVERAGE amps required on a daily (or hourly) basis. And yeah, you'd have to allow extra for startup amps, but most generators will start a lot more than they will run for extended periods.

Hence the statement "general idea," rather than "exactly."

FWIW... my bill (on a Coop) actually shows daily usage, so I could just pick the highest day in the highest month and get a "pretty close" hourly average. ;)

I live in my barn, and it’s all electric. My electrician said 12kw would run everything, but he said I could get by with a smaller generator if I manage how I run appliances.

Best bet is to seek advice from a real electrician and not internet electricians.:rollingla
