HD Antenna and Amazon Prime. I use amazon enough that yearly membership saves me time and money. Plus I get books and amazon prime music for free. I hate Cable TV. As I get older it’s just too much junk to look at. Having less is sometimes more calming.

No help here, I'm paying out the wazoo for DirecTV.

Call directv and tell them you want to cancel services. Look at your bill and complain about channels you don’t watch that are included in your plan. I was getting charged for regional sports shows which I don’t watch.

After arguing with them for a few minutes and pressing the issue they cut my bill in half.

Had DirectTV for years, finally got tired last time it went up to $75 for basic channels and they wouldn't lower it. Cancelled it, got over the air wireless internet with AtLink since that was all we could get in the country. Was able to stream without buffering most of the time, only netflix and amazon prime at 6-7MB@$70 monthly. Got a Clearstream antenna off amazon for all the local stuff, worked great with about 40 more channels. Moved and got 200MB unlimited internet from Vyve, for what I was paying AtLink for 6-7MB, and stream on multiple TV's with roku's on the ones not built in. Kid's playing online video games all the time also. Got Sling TV for my mom/dad when we moved then in, added some sports for my dad. Everyone in the house can do what they want over the internet with no issues. Installed Google Wifi mesh network when we moved in to get equal speeds throughout 3200 square foot house. Works well.

When I was a kid, we didn't have cable. It wasn't until I was in my 20s that I got DirecTV. I had it for years, and I kept having to pay more and more for less and less until I was watching a handful of channels, but only way I could get them was to get the most expensive package. About the time AT$T's acquisition was announced, I realized that I hadn't even turned on my DirecTV receiver in three months, so I told them to pound sand.

Right now, I have Amazon Prime Video just because Amazon throws it in with Prime, but mostly what I watch is broadcast TV (largely thanks to those digital subchannels that run classic TV). If there's something on cable that I want to watch (read: sports), I can usually go watch it at my folks' place.

tl;dr version: modern TV is pretty much universally garbage, so I don't care to pay anything for it.

Antenna for locals, Plex for movies and tv shows, Lazyman for NHL but MLB is available for me. In my Plex I have about 2500 movies and 4400 tv episodes. To be honest I could be the last person left alive and be able to do nothing other than watch stuff on my plex and never get bored with it.

We had AtLink for a couple of years here in the sticks since satellite internet is all we could get. 10 gigs a month meant zero movies, just forums and shopping. Plus AtLink wouldn't work with our Wifi security system we had at the time. There was a lag from the satellite that the security system couldn't overcome. Spent a week with the manufacturer and AtLink services trying to get it going and couldn't.
A new wireless company set up shop, supplies us with unlimited internet, and gave us a wifi modem that is pretty stout.
$80 a month. We stream everything, and nothing slows it down. Its a local company so don't think they have any business outside of the Ponca City area.

We recently got tired of paying Directv over a hundred bucks a month for crap we didn't watch, because let's face it...there's nothing worth watching on TV anymore. So we had it turned off and become more productive around the house. When we do watch anything on TV, if it's raining or something, we have started watching DVDs of old classics like The Beverly Hillbillies, Gunsmoke, Barney Miller and Andy Griffith. Good wholesome television.

The only thing I miss is local news/weather.
