I’m pretty sure the original contract required a certain percentage of the profits had to be put back into the local infrastructure.
Around Ponca where there are 9 casinos, the tribes have cost shared with the city and county to replace bridges, resurface roads and so on which is also a benefit to the state beyond a percentage of the profit in taxes.
They arent required to do any such thing, they do what will benefit there casinos. Roads, interchanges, improved access. And yes, they "help" pay. Thackerville interchange at MM 1 was a $40 mil. project, they gave ODOT 16 mil. They made that back in 4 days from that casino...yep, $4 mil per day of TX money coming in. I learned this attending meetings down there with the tribe. I did the early conceptual design of that interchange.

I think comparing the gaming arrangement in this state to that of other states is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the tribes here spend quite a bit on infrastructure and medical. I think a significant number of rural medical facilities are run by the tribes...that’s a huge benefit to the state which goes beyond a simple percentage of profit.
I did mention the hospitals above and other money they generate for the state as well. The tribes are tax exempt and the OK tribes simply have the sweetest deal of any tribes in the US. Stitt wants to level the playing field to generate more for OK and its people. I see no issue with it.

The tribes are also tax exempt so the 4%-5% they pay is ALL they pay.
Seem a bit low now? Since your paying 15% or more on your income? LOL

So are many other government organizations. Do you also consider the lost property taxes from land purchased by the tribes when it's placed in federal trust status?

Conveniently ignoring the income tax paid by their employees . . . . and those of construction companies hired to build tribal facilities.

What does how much a tribe pays to the state have to do with what I pay in income taxes?

The item to consider is the overall tribal membership for tribes across the country. Some tribes pay their members per capita checks based on gaming revenue. I'm not aware of any Oklahoma tribes that do this.

Regarding the medical facilities built by tribes . . . these are often joint ventures between the tribes and the Indian Health Service. Some remain tribally operated and others are Federally operated. But yes, most are in rural parts of the state and are big employers of rural Oklahomans.
